LaVida Massage, a unique concept in health and wellness focused on providing affordable therapeutic massage and skin care services for the family, has opened its first location in Ann Arbor at the recently constructed Plymouth Road Plaza strip mall.*
The 2,000-square-foot wellness facility marks the 14th LaVida center in Michigan and the first in Washtenaw County.
LaVida of Ann Arbor is owned and operated by Julie Gabriel, local long-time massage therapist and construction project manager for the Johnson Building Group—an Ann Arbor-based residential and multi-family construction company.
“I know the business of massage therapy and am familiar with its importance as a modality of health and wellness,†says Gabriel. “LaVida allows me to spread the word about this therapeutic power of massage in a manner that benefits everyone, build a business of which I am passionate, and all while investing in the health, wellness and business of the northern Ann Arbor area.â€
Adding to the already health and fitness-focused lineup of businesses in the area, LaVida of Ann Arbor joins a yoga center, a karate and martial arts studio, and The Big Salad—a healthy eating franchise—at the Plymouth Road complex, and is also within close proximity to the University of Michigan hospital and health center.
Located at 2793 Plymouth Road, just east of Nixon Road and across the street from the former Pfizer site now owned by the University of Michigan, the new LaVida center features eight regular massage rooms, one couples’ therapy room, and one room dedicated to skin care services.
“LaVida offers a high level of customer service; we are open seven days a week and have an easy to use online system for booking appointments (which aren’t required — we accept walk-ins), and we are entirely dedicated to benefiting the family — it’s not the typical spa atmosphere maintained by many other massage centers in the area,†Gabriel adds.
In addition to sharing the health and wellness benefits of massage to the Ann Arbor area, Gabriel will add jobs with LaVida — with intentions of hiring up to eight massage therapists in the coming months. Apply for a position on the LaVida website.
LaVida of Ann Arbor provides a number of therapeutic massage services specifically designed to meet the needs of families in the area, including Swedish, couples’, deep tissue, prenatal, oncological, corporate, sports and others, all performed by licensed and highly experienced massage therapists. The center also offers skin care services such as facials, peels and waxing. Additionally, the center offers products by GlyMed Plus, a recognized industry leader in the development of professional skin care products and DermaSound Elite skin treatments, a state-of-the-art ultrasonic system by GlyMed that improves skin conditions including wrinkles, acne and rosacea.
Frequent massage therapy sessions have been proven time and again to benefit the health with increased blood circulation, enhanced sleep quality, greater energy levels, improved concentration, reduced fatigue and stress, decreased anxiety, enhanced immunity, improved body motion, reduced heart rate and injury rehabilitation.
