another beautician coming for treatment!

Hi Guys

I am new on here as a poster but I do lurk an awful lot!
I have been set up from home for a couple of months now and am slowly building my business. Although I'm relatively new to the business I have been around it all my life as my mum has been a beautician for over 30 years, and as soon as I could walk I waswalking around a salon! so I'm very lucky to have the backing of my mum and all her experience.
My Q is this - I had a phone call from a beautician asking to come for her waxing tomorrow which I gladly booked in, however, she asked "too many" Q on the phone and when I said I'm only just starting out she said "well I wouldn't bother, there's no money in it"....... this has got me thinking that she is not coming soley for her waxing but to scout me out and maybe even put me off.... maybe she thinks I would take business away from her if she is also local?? Fortunately I have more background than she thinks and am very established and confident in my way of thinking about the beauty biz as I've been around it so much but I just wanted to hear maybe some others experience of this kind of thing and advice on how I should react??!

Well that isn't a very encouraging thing to say to a fellow therapist! A case of sour grapes on that person's part perhaps? Maybe her experience hasn't been good, but that doesn't mean to say you won't do well. Maybe also she is trying to put you off. Businesses fail and businesses succeed. Stick to your guns, but be prepared to learn from her if she has any advice about things that didn't work for her. Good luck.
