Any advice?

Hi

I am setting up in october, a physio i know, has bought a house and basically i will be renting one of the rooms. What i would like to know is, how do you go about security and safety for yourself.

Im worried about when i do a treatment at say 8pm and the physio might have gone home, what do i do. Sorry guys.... but this is actually aimed at men (not meaning to offend). If a guy comes for a treatment and its at night and im on my own have you any ideas about how i could feel a bit safer? I havent even got there yet and my head is spinning with thoughts!!

The other thing is, ladies, when you are treating a man, do you do a full body on them or do you specify that you only back massages on men? Does anyone not treat men?

Do you need to work after 8pm? I work within a physio centre, and the physio does office hours (9-5). I do the same hours, making my last appointment at 6pm. I am knackered if I work past 7.30! I make sure that my family know where I am if I am working late. I have never had an issue with 'security'. I generally try and give an air of authority, and, if I am the least bit concerned about what a potential male client may require, I tell him that I am fully booked until about 2 weeks time, and only have an appointment for 4.30 on such and such a day (knowing that my colleague will also be in the building). I also work, if necessary, at weekends, when I am alone in the centre, with an adjacent taxi firm in the same building for company. I rarely see male clients outside standard business hours. It may be worth considering limiting your options to treating same-sex clients for a few months, until you feel more confident.

Thanks for your reply, i think you have come up with a good idea, i think i should treat the men mainly during daytime hours.

Im not planning to work till that time everyday i just thought one late night a week would be a good idea for those who would like to come after work but i would probably do say 1pm till 8pm on that day

I will definatley let my family know when im doing a late, as to when i start and finish.
