Im considering getting a labrador puppy but already have 2 cats. Will the dog accept the cats with the right training? Or will the cats cause the trouble?

I just went though this. I have a 6 month old choc lab and a 2 year old cat. Then i brought bear home (the dog) I ran him around outside for a while and then brought him in when he was good and tied. Molli, (the cat) checked him over as i held him. I let Bear down and Mollie and him sniffed each other and then Bear took off running (playing) and Mollie followed out of curiosity (courosity killed the cat) Bear ran circles around her eventually, they both calmed down and they are best buds. I did however keep a close eye on the two of them for a while.... just in case. Molli has only batted at him once.
