begin but where

hiya

I am very interested in healing such as reiki, especially body scanning or medical intuitives...the thing is where do I begin with all these courses....I would like to do massage but with being overweight do not want to take my clothes off and be practiced on...

I am also interested in reflexology....what gets me is all the courses cost money so how am I going to achieve all this when I am on benefit and cannot work....

I know there are ways around things...but just wondered how you all managed....

Hi Starz[/align][/align]With Reiki you can get free attunements and instructions online, you might find some Reiki masters are open to exchange in other than monetary sense of the word, you could offer your skills in exchange for tuition.[/align][/align]It is best with massage to receive them whilst learning or you don't have a full understanding of what you are doing, size is not a problem, we all come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and massage therapists generally accept this and learn to have a none judgmental approach concerning size and physical deformities.[/align][/align]ITEC generally run evening courses at local collages and some schools and seem to be the cheapest option, you generally pay per term so you have a few weeks to get the fees together, I am not sure if they have a discount for unemployed or not, you will have to enquire.[/align][/align]The more traditional teaching institutes are more expensive and you would have to find a couple of grand for most of them so that is not really an option for you at the moment.[/align]

thank you paul...with the massage there are many types is it swedish I begin with....or what would your advice be...

and I know it is the small steps that eventually get me to where I am going but as a beginner it all seems a lot to start with...and also now at 37 I think I should have started all this years ago....but if I go by what a clairvoyant told me it is normally the late 30s when people begin to delve deeper into all this stuff anyway....

Hi Starz[/align][/align]That will depend on what you want to do with it, night schools usually teachgeneral body massage which is oftencalled Swedish massage so you might not have a lot of options unless you can come up with some hard currency.[/align][/align]The only disadvantage is you are usually not qualified or insured to treat muscular/skeletal dysfunctions, if you want to tread dysfunctions directly as a massage therapist then you need tolearn remedial type massage therapy ata more traditional school but they are rather expensive.[/align]

it seems that reflexology would be less of a challenge for you as it only involves taking off shoes and socks to begin with, so you would feel less vulnerable/self conscious.

in a way, it is less important where you start it ismore important that you do begin.

I hope your council does offer reduced fees for people in your situation
