book recommendations for reflexology

Hi, I don't know if I am posting in the correct section.

Can anyone recommend a good book for beginners of Reflexlogy. I am not doing a course at the moment, but its just for something to read and to see what's involved, etc if I should feel like doing a course at some stage. I have a book on IHM by Francessa Gould which I find is very interesting, I brought it so I have some idea about IHM before I do my course! I know she does books on other subjects too and I think Reflexlogy might be one.

any books anyone can recommend would be great, I would like one that is imformative enough about the subject but without being too technical, ie in an easy to understand format Thanks

Hello Jane

I've had a few over the years, but have pared it down to these three:

1. The Reflexology Workout by Stephanie Rick. It shows you were the points are, and suggests 'workouts' for specific conditions (i.e. weightloss, stress-control).

2. The Complete Guide to Foot Reflexology by Kevin and Barbara Kunz. This is my favourite. It has basic techniques, session plan, evaluating the foot etc. It's very good.

3. Reflexology - The Definitive Guide by Chris Stormer. Chris is a bit of a self-appointed reflexology guru (and has been known to spout a bit of rubbish). However the book is good, and is indeed a 'definitive' guide.

I like Laura Norman's Reflexology Handbook myself.

I agree with Ava about Chris Stormer's work, some of which I would describe as "gigantic leaps of fantasy and assumption."

I disagree with what has been said about Chris Stormer. I have been to a number of her workshops and personally have put her theories into practice and completely turned my life around. In terms of holistic reflexology her books are invaluable and I still refer to them constantly with clients.

Thanks to everyone that replied.

I decided to buy the complete reflexlogy workout book that Ava recommended (others might have recommended this one too) it seems a very good book which i am slowly working my way thru.

i also got a book just on hand reflexology.

the books are just for my use and if i am able to do self reflexology then i may consider next year doing a course in it.

Another good book is Hands on Reflexology - A Complete Guide (Andrew James) which has a sequence for both hands and feet.

Thanks for the recommendation, the book I mentioned has workouts for hand and feet, the other book the title/author that I have is Hand Reflexology by Michael and Louise Keet, which in time I will look through...one book at a time.
