I would not offer anything higher than $10 off... I did some research a few years ago (
many "off" postcards and business cards to different people/companies and businesses), and across the board, I found that I obtained more clients on a $10-off, than a $15 or $25 off... and the ones who came in for the higher discounts rarely returned.
Just an opinion.
Here is what my small "Gift Certificates" say on them. They are the size of a business card with an expiration "line" at the bottom, so that I can fill it in. All text is centered with a logo at the top on a lenghtwise business card. I know you just want something on the back of your business card, but, this may give you a few ideas on wording:
- Gift Certificate
$10 off your first one hour massage at
Expires:_______________________
(This offer is valid for ages 18 and up.)
I use these cads for golf tournaments, goodie bags, personal friends, clients, etc. They come in handy. I have also had them printed with an exact expiration date in the past, when using a large amount of them for goodie bags for running/golf events.
So, maybe you could say something like:
- We look forward to meeting you!
Please present this card for $10 off your first one hour massage at .

I've done this too and it worked occasionally. Passed out lots of cards, little return. But there was some return!
Quote:I have been mulling over different ideas for similar cards. I'd love to have a "coupon card" to have in my purse to give people I want to give a "little something special"- like when I eat out and want to leave such a card at the table along with their tip. I am thinking to have our basic cards printed up as usual, on the front, and have my "coupon" on the back instead if the "about our practice/hours" stuff we currently have on the back. I'll also carry "regular" cards too, and decide at the moment which to hand the person. Is that mean? Laughinglol...I feel this way too! I don't think it's mean, I think it's smart! You have to be able to feel out the individual you wish to work with and sometimes, you don't want to give it away for "free". IMO.[/quote]

this line of discussion got me thinking about rubber stamps. instead of ordering two different cards, what about ordering a rubber stamp and then you can just date and initial (or whatever you determine best) at the time. tossed into the fray purely as brainstorm fodder--i personally like the ideas already presented, this was just an additional thought.

Great!
BTW, I also have information about our work on the back of the Gift Certificate. I don't have the exact wording right now (not at work), but it mentions things like Deep Tissue, Specific Neck & Back Work, TMJ Work, a sentence about how "We Can Help", etc.
O ne other interesting note, I have found that when I do an expiration with these, I try to not "count off the months". I do a general expiration for mid-year and one for Dec. 15. The only ones that are "counted off" would be those that I place in a "Welcome to Our Practice" letter. So, although there are some GC's that expire at different times of the year (and of course there are the ones I may sell on occasion --- which is about 10 -15 per year), for the most part, the majority of these come due middle and end year. I chose Dec. 15, in order to keep people from returning these at Christmas time when things get hectic, but leaving me the option to redeem them at that time if I want to -- and getting much of my prior years "baggage" out of the way and moving forward into the next year fresh.
I think that covers all of my thoughts.

hey pueppi, I really like your approach. thank you for sharing that. I also like the idea of the small "gift certificate" presentation, and it being on business size card and stock. I suppose I could just carry those with my business cards, and when I give out a business card, I could always give one of those along with it, and it might even make it a little more personal and be a good client relationship starter. I could also choose whether or not to offer the $10 off to someone I'm giving my business card to.
I like this a lot! Thanks for the suggestions!!
Oh now I'm excited to go design these up!

Business Card/Incentive
ย
Sorry in advance if this is covered elsewhere, but I can't find it and I keep putting off asking about this because I wanted to search far and wide to make sure this wasn't a repeat topic! Seems I saw something somewhere once, but now I cant...anyway!
I'm getting ready to order new business cards since I'm done with school and test and my license is being processed...
I want to put something on the back of my card (which serves as an appt. card) that is some form of incentive. Just one simple, clean line. I don't have clients yet, and I don't want to advertise outside of presentations, community activities, and word of mouth.
But how/what to actually work the incentive on my card. I want it to be something I can honor for a long period since it is my business card and I'm not going to get new ones every month.
I'm thinking about making it a $10 of first visit (maybe $15?).
Or else some kind of referral incentive-Maybe I could offer $10 off your next visit for every referral?
I'm a bit stumped. And I don't want it to look tacky, but I do definitely want to include something. I've gotten great feedback on my card design and I want to keep it clean and classy.
Any suggestions?
