Business cards with cut-outs

A while back, my acupuncturist had these wonderful business cards. They were a nice speckly cardstock with black text - pretty standard but reasonably classy looking. The cool thing was that the Chinese character for "Health" was cut out of the middle of the card. I'd never seen cards with cut-outs like that. It was very very cool.

Then I happened to see a stack of the same business cards on her desk, without the punched out design. I never got around to asking her about it, but I suspect she got a shaped hole-punch (like they use for scrapbooking) and punched them out herself.

I need to get new business cards and I remembered this idea, so I've been looking online for appropriate shaped hole punches. I use a spiral logo and I found a nice spiral one. At the same site, they have hand and foot shaped hole punches. Also flowers, butterflies, paw prints, trees, leaves, and holiday designs. Very very cool.

That reminds me... I just went to Michaels the other day and found a hand hole punch for a dollar. I had forgotten about it - now I'm going to try it.

edited to add - well I tried it, the one I have is small and I'd not like to to have hole punch too many things at a time. Its not great quality and it doesn't line up at an angle the way I'd like. but its cute!

Try the scrapbooking section at Hobby Lobby, Michael's, Wal-Mart or Target. They have these cool little hole punch thingies, and I'm just pretty darn sure I saw some chinese letter ones the other day...

Wow. What a neat idea!! I'm going to have to experiment now. I'm just now getting into scrap booking, so a hole punch or 2 will be a welcomed addition. Thanks for sharing this.

I think this is a neat idea too. Not sure how I can implement it, but like it all the same.

I'm an avid scrapbooker, when I was looking for new cards I fell in love with the elegant rounded edges other printers were offering - but I didn't like the extra cost. I ordered my cards, coupons and brochures and broke out my trusty corner rounder punch from my craft room. I grab a stack of material, put on a good movie and punch away I just love the look!
