has joining made a difference to anyone here? Im considering it. Business is good, but could always be better. Ive been told that joining could be a boost, but the ones telling me that are the ones wanting my money to join! lol Any help would be appreciated!

i talked to a friend of mine who is very active in my community and she told me not to join. she couldn't see that it would be that great of an opportunity. i guess it depends if you're looking to make business contacts or if you're only looking to help fill your schedule.

i wouldn't join thinking that you'll meet a bunch of business people and they'll schedule appointments with you. i just don't think it works that way. however, if you're looking to meet business people in the community to have more connections....then it might be a good idea for you.

i didn't join mine and i'm glad i didn't. i live in an area that is very community oriented so i was concerned at first that i should join. you know, thinking it would look good. after talking to my friend, i realized i didn't need to and that was a good choice for me. maybe down the road i will, but not for now.

I've been a member for over a year, and have found it to be beneficial. I've made friends, made business contacts and gotten clients. The Chamber, like all networking opportunities, you get out of it what you put into it. Here there is only one other active MT in the chamber. I think she's doing well because of it, plus it probably helps to be a skinny blonde female, right?

I'm glad I joined. Check all aspects of your communities COC, they may have more or less things that will benefit you. They've said that the networking is only about 10%.

I've been a member for a little over a year now and I have made back my inital investment (it was $195 for a year), although there seems to be little cliques, some people have been members for years and they almost seem hesitant about letting someone else into their little group, and I am one of the few massage therapists that is a member and actually goes to the events, but for me, who doesn't like just throwing myself in someone's face and talking, it can be a little stressful. However, I have a practice to build, and I have met some good people and made some good contacts for my own use.

I recently joined the St. Paul Area Chamber and found I'm the only MT registered with them. While I haven't been able to attend any functions yet, I have gradually been sending introductory letters to members with packs of coupons offering their first 30 minutes free and asking them to give them out to coworkers, clients, friends, family, etc. I'm now booked two weeks out. Yes, I've been doing a lot of freebies but I look at it as good exposure and I have picked up some repeat clients who now come in on a regular basis. So, for me the initial fee for joining has definitely been worth it!
