Clients using gift certificates

What is your position on this? Do you mind your regular clients buying gift certificates for their own use rather than using them to give as "gifts?"

I haven't had it happen, but it wouldn't matter to me. I have even joked that anyone who is expected to shop for herself (usually it's the wife told to get whatever she wants :roll: ) that she should just go ahead and get what she wants - 4 or 5 massage gift certificates!

Have had a lot of clients do that over the years. Doesn't matter. They dont want to buy a package, so they just buy one or two GCs, Or I am running a sale on GCs and they stock up for themselves. Its all the same to me.

Call them something different then. Call them prepaid appointments instead. Tell your clients to purchase them when they have a few extra bucks so they can use them the next time when they don't. Lock 'em in.

I sell prepaid packages for a discounted fee. Many clients opt for that.

I also send out a birthday post card with a $10 off coupon to be used during their birthday week.

This holiday I am offering a "Buy one, get one half price" special to help clients financially, knowing some of them will appreciate the discount when wanting to buy a gift for a family member or friend, as many of my clients do.

When they ask if they can use them for themselves, well, it just doesn't feel right. I am already discounting my fees to some of my regulars, and I even offer a 20% discount off EVERY session for those with insurance who qualify. To use them themselves feels like they are taking advaneforum.xxxe. I guess I just wouldn't do it myself.

That is probably the difference, healer611 - you are discounting so much.

The only discounts I give are to my senior groups, because I go in and see them as a GROUP, saving myself time, travel, set-up, etc. (I see them individually, but have a sign-up sheet system in those facilities.) If they schedule a massage while I am already there, they get a discount, which encourages them to be much more regular so that they see a much greater benefit.

Gift certificates are not discounted, so I don't care at all who buys for whose use.
