I work in a small office of licensed professionals.
The woman in the next office is a hard worker and a true asset to our organization (fake name: "Jane"). Always, she is courteous and pleasant and professional and does excellent work. She is probably in her late twenties. She is married to a man who is also a licensed professional - he works for a state agency.
We are pretty collegial here. The four other licensed professionals in our office (all men if that makes any difference) all talk and joke around but not with "Jane". She is younger then all the guys - that is probably the reason we don't shmooze with her. Jane comes in at 9, works nose to the grindstone, skips lunch most days, and leaves at 5.
Jane got married before she started working here.
Everything is fine except this bugs me: every now and then this twenty-something dude shows up at 4:59 p.m. walks into her office, waits a few minutes, and then they leave together. It is OBVIOUSLY her husband, but she never introduces him!!!
Do you think that is insulting to her co-workers?
Aren't we good enough to meet him?
Is Jane impliedly saying "I'll work with you but I don't want you to know anything about me"
