Conventions and Public Areas to do clothed table massage.

Hi, I have been looking for additional ways to promote lately. I have joined a mobile massage service, e-mailed some churches, and am well aware of holistic conventions. Does anyone have anymore ideas about places I can do clothed table massage, advertise my business, make some money, and donate half to wherever is hosting me? I would really appreciate it...

I've had an idea for a while that I've never followed through with -

My mom's friend owns an independent shoe store in their town, and I always thought about approaching her to do some kind of a "treat your feet" promotion. You know, bring in the table, set up out of the way & just do 5 or 10 mins of foot massage. (Hand stink at the end of the day? Probably...) Plus, she sells shoes that are considered by many to be good for your feet, think Dansco... so it would be a good combo.

I never thought too much more about it than that, such as details like would she pay me for the time, or would I just be available and accept payment from the customers and whatnot. Obviously it would be best to coincide with any other promotion going on.

Off the top of my head, that is my best (kinda old) idea.

other ideas

- Relay-for-Life and other walk-a-thons.

- Trade/bridal/craft shows.

- Health fairs.

- Nearly any type of sporting event or tournaments. Especially tournaments ~ these are usually all-day affairs with many bored spectators waiting until their participant's match.

Also, you can go to your chamber of commerce and find out all the local groups in your area. Contact them and see if they would be interested in having you come and talk about massage and give out five minute free demo's of chair massage. For example, I have done a ladies society meeting and the local botanical garden society meeting.

Farmer's markets are a good location, not always busy, depending on where you are but it gets you out there.

Another thing you can do is contact your local civic center for a list of all the upcoming events, holistic and health conventions aren't the only ones you should consider! Consider them all! Conventions consist of attendees who have traveled there from other locales and it is becoming more common, esp. in larger cities, to have chair massage therapists providing massage.

Peruse the business section and upcoming events section of your local paper to find more events to work. Just about any festival, meeting or what not is worth a look into!

For charity events, you can see which ones come yearly to your area and contact them to let them know you are interested in bringing in chair massage to donate money, although it might be better if you donate all that you make at the event.

When you do these events, have a short intake form for each person. Getting their address and especially email address. Follow up each of these events by mailing them a thank you for taking the time to meet you and offer them a deal for their first massage with you. This has worked wonders for me.
