Creepy or not?

About a year ago I had a new client come in for an hour. He lives out of town, but promised to book another session the next time he came into town. If memory serves, the gentleman was a lovely client: prompt, appropriate, with good feedback regarding deep work.

I have been using iContact to send out a monthly newsletter, to which he usually responds with a short note. I was just looking at my stats, and it indicates that this client opened the email 23 times. :shock: Is that weird? The gentleman is older--in his 70's--but seemed very lively. (I don;t know why I think that matters.)

Probably not weird. A lot of us readers are avid re-readers. I've read the back of the same cereal box every morning until I had to get a new box. We read whatever we can get our hands on, when we have a chance to read something. Letters are the most fun to read and reread, so it sounds like he doesn't get nearly enough mail. (There isn't enough mail, lol.)

Maybe his email automatically "reads" the next in line after the previous is deleted and that next one happens to be yours?

I don't know could send him a note asking why he is reading your email so many times? Are there pictures he could be looking at?

whoa -- how CAN you tell how many times he opened your email??? It's in HIS inbox???? Does it somehow access your website when he clicks into the email, or something??

I use iContact, and there is all sorts of data that can be tracked--how many opens, bounces, unsubscribes, forwards, click-throughs, etc. it's a really easy interface that is compatible with my Mac based addressbook, making adding emails a cinch, and it even eliminates duplicates, in case I have people filed in twqo places (such as under "clients" and "friends."

Most newsletter software have these options. I can also tell how many times people open an email, what time, what they clicked on, not read, bounces etc. I can also see reports of how many people opened per hour, % opened, clicked bounced over the whole mailing list too.

Email isn't just email anymore...

and for my 2cents... his email probably does automatically go to the next one in line when he is deleting, viewing etc. I often do that when scrolling through my emails and accidently go to far.
