Are there any american like dance clubs in SJ that play techno music or hip hop?

In the Vertigo they play techno: Vertigo, San Jose, Centro Colon, Paseo Colon

There is a dance club in the same building as the JR's Ribs Restaurant, on the 2nd floor. The place is really hopping on the weekends....lots of people there.

After the SL Halloween party my novia and her amiga went dancing at the clubs in El Pueblo till 4:30 am. Had a good time but it was way too much for these 62 year old bones. : : :

All the places were pretty much the same (latin flavored techno and loud as hell). Their favorite seemed to by a place called TanRico.

Almost all the music at El Pueblo is reggaeton, which is taking over the world. There is one place though that plays salsa, merengue, cumbia though which caters to a older crowd. I think it is called fiesta latina.

The reggaeton crowd is a rough low classed one ,aged 18-25 or so.

Vertigo is the only techno place that i know of.

I am looking for a techno club sat night, We want VIP status. Bottles and waitress from when we enter tell we leave! We got some high rollers coming with us on this trip!!!!

Not really low class, reggaeton is the in thing and I love it. I is for the younger crowd but like hip hop and rap even the upper class goes to where the trendiest music is played.

for a trendy techno club, there's Vertigo on paseo colon. nice vip area. good service. there's also Oblique in Heredia, close to the pricemsart. also nice vip area, and a strict dresscode enforcement. i prefer Vertigo over the two. Vertigo is very large, always has good parties and shows, and candy is easily available there, if ur into it.

Reggaaton in CR is gang banger music, I love what it does to women. Go to some reggaeton clubs , not high class by any means. I don,t know one club where they play mostly reggaeton that I would call high class or upper middle class.

Have you actually ever gone to a reggaeton place?

Castro bar plays very little reggaeton, Tobogon None as the middle class people think it is low class...polo and look down on it.

My pal works as a hostess at a new club in Escazu' called Prive (PREE-veh). Techno, house and yes...phucking reggaeton. :roll:

I haven't been there yet, although Andrea has invited me. C.R. clubs put one of my remaining four senses in great danger. Sorry guys, but noise levels above 120 dB are probably not good for one's hearing. Bring plugs...these clubs are nearly twice as loud as the loudest U.S. dance club. :!:
As for reggaeton being low-class gangbanger music, I could not agree more with X-man. Absolutely low class...but the hookers, admittedly not in the highest strata of society love it. :twisted:

Pac 55 makes an excellent point that has not been discussed in some time. When you run into a working girl outside of the P4P locations, do not assume that she is willing to acknowledge you. She may be with family, boyfriend, husband, Ch*ldren or just alone and not working. You can cause her great damage and potentially get yourself in a ditch. I run into girls all the time at restaurants and bars outside of the gulch. I make eye contact and allow them to make the first move to say hello or just keep walking. I ran into two Columbianas at the movies in Escazu with two gringos I did not know. The girl I knew well smiled but gave me a nervous look and I just walked on by.
