Do you have an online store?

I noticed recently that WaltFritz has a really nice online store on his web site. That (and other things) got me to thinking more about having "things" available for our clients... I have little desire and less money to have a physical retail store, where I'd have to purchase and track inventory, etc., at this point in time. Realizing that having things actually IN our "shop" could incite more people to come in and therefore possibly become clients, but it just isn't in our immediate plans.

I'm wondering how many bodyworkers here have affiliations with retailers for an "online store" of sorts? Who with? How does that work? How is it working out for you? Do you get any significant amount of income from it, what sorts of things do you offer, why do you offer what you do, etc. etc. etc.??? I would love to hear more.

We live fairly close to Body Logic, http://www.ebodylogic.com, and while I don't SEE an affiliate program on their web site, I plan to go talk with her perhaps on Monday to see whether or not it might be an option.

No suggestions, but I will comment that I would like to figure out how Walt set his up, as I am so terrible at understanding computer related info.

I think he responded on another thread about it, but I was a little bogged down in my anxiety to really "get it" and make use of the info. I believe the thread is in the Website section.

My store is fully integrated with Amazon (aStore). Woody, my website builder, made it a part of my new website, vs how it was in the past.
Through Wordpress, the two appear to be one and it is more professional.

Amazon affiliate links will never make me rich, but does offer a one stop shopping destination for all of the home treatment tools, etc, that I may recommend to my clients. I inform them about what an affiliate link is; I get approx 4-6% of every sale. I tell them they can go through my website, where everything is laid out, ready to click, or they can go to Amazon themselves. The nice thing about affiliate links is that if someone clicks on one of my links, then proceeds to buy more on Amazon, I get the % for all they buy. I'm just waiting for someone to buy a house or something on Amazon...big commission!

Well, this isn't the post I was thinking of either, but I ran across it while searching for the other one I have been thinking about.

I think you are thinking of Google Adsense which is different from Adwords...

Adwords is where you bid on your keyword and pay for an ad and you only pay when someone clicks on your ad in the search results. You can control the amount you spend by setting daily limits, monthly limits and cost per click limits. You can stay within your budget. It takes a few days to figure out how much you have to set the click fee at to get it to the top of the search engine results.

Adsense is for publishers of websites. You can put Google adwords ads on your site and make money everytime someone clicks on the ads. This is what I do with my many sites on massage information. It works better on an informational site as far as making money.

You can use adsense on your site for massage but it does take people away from your site. You can put them on articles that you write about massage. I wouldn't put them on pages where you are talking specifically about your services.

The other thing that attracts search engines and potential clients is building lots of pages of content -like 200 pages. I know you are probably saying yeah right- me write 200 pages but it is nothing more than writing about what you talk about with people day in and day out to promote your massage business.

The thing is with a website, is that if the person is not going to call you, you may as well make money from them.

You can blend the ads in with your pages so they don't look tacky.

Adsense actually works better with a purely informational site. I make my living from them almost. The thing is to find a little niche that you are an expert in and create a website on it. Sitebuildit! will teach you everything you need to know about that part of it and will help you with everything from choosing your niche, naming your site, learning to write content and creating the site and getting all of the traffic that you need.
