Do you send Thank You Cards?

I feel showing gratitude in important, and I think that sending a hand written Thank You card helps build rapport with your client....

The clinic where I work needs to get back on our feet after years of lazy management and I was asked to create a clinic outline of ideas we can act on for a shoestring budget. One idea I had was having our therapists take just a couple seconds at the end of the day, or after their charting, to write a *quick* thank you note to their 1st time clients (this would only average 1, maybe 2, cards per day - hardly great effort).
If therapists opt not for the note they may instead make a follow up call a day or two later, an idea I am less enthusiastic about, but management worries that therapists just wont write the notes. (hello...employEEs? Sorry...that is another post)

1. Is this idea futile? Am I just overly optimistic?
2. Can you help me come up with a couple simple scripts and card examples?
I have put thought into this, I'm not just running to the boards hoping you'll come up with the work...I just want to make sure I submit the best possible examples and more heads are better than one

You know, MM, that's not a bad idea. I have seen others suggest that sending client thank-you's, as well as "Special occasion" cards (remembering a client's birthday, wedding anniversary, etc) can be quite helpful in that all-important "customer service" area. And your remark that it wouldn't take much- possibly only one or two/day (in our situation, I'd have to add "if that"), and while I hear poseforum.xxxe is going up again, it still doesn't cost *that* much. Of course, I'd have to do it *for* hubby (so it would be one of my "Thursday-Friday-Saturday chores" rather than done on a daily basis), but still and all. I think it's a *good* idea, and one which I'm going to bring up to hubby suggesting that we implement it soon as I get caught up on our QuickBooks for last quarter (he won't care- as long as he doesn't have to do it, LOL! Nobody could read the cards if he did it anyway..... : ).

I also enjoy sending out thank you cards. Hallmark has some nice ones you can buy in packs of 15 or 25. Mine are handwritten and basically say:

Dear ______,
Just a short note to let you know I appreciate your new business. I enjoyed meeting you and look forward to seeing you again! Please join me on facebook where you can read interesting articles about massage, learn new stretching techniques and have access to specials that are only for online clients. And I usually enclose 2 or 3 business cards. For a while I sent out birthday cards with $15 off their next service, but haven't since moving out here. But I'm planning on re-introducing that one eventually.

Do you send Thank You Cards?

I used to do this but ended up falling behind when volume increased so I turned to my ever-faithful Constant Contact and just made up a "new client" list to send "welcome" emails to. I use the autoresponder feature they have and send out a thank you email within a few days of their visit, then a week later it sends a welcome newsletter that covers services, hours of operation, and links for self-help tips. So far it works pretty well but I do think handwritten notes win over emails.

I am only a little over a month into school, so I have not had the opportunity to send a thank you card to anyone - but I am keeping a journal of all of the ideas that race through my head so that I can use them later after graduating.

When I had my Lasik surgery I received a hand-written card from the surgery center. Included in the card was a nice chamomile tea bag. The note said something about taking time for myself and to relax. This made a lasting impression. I plan on using this approach with new clients.

How about putting a magnetized business card in the thank you note? I always keep magnets that get sent to me unless it is for some nasty pharmaceutical.

I do not send thank you cards, but when I had my own practice I always sent a birthday card.

If it was a regular client, I would give them a free one hour relaxation massage anytime during their birth month.

For someone who had only been in a time or two i would give them 50% off one massage during their birth month.

Almost 100% of my clients would use those cards.

ABSOLUTELY! We send handwritten thank you cards to all first time guests and all birthdays. This has proven to be one of our most effective marketing tools and our rebook rate is north of 85%. One tip, always include TWO business cards...one for them and one for a friend.
