don't u think that Referrals introduced to Cricket is very unfair to Umpires ?

I mean , the Umpires r there to give the decision , it's their job so why doubt their decision ? it's very humiliating for an umpire if his decision was shown incorrect by the referrals , isn't it ? so why even have 2 umpires in the ground when players needs referrals to make decisions more than their decisions ?? I m not in any favor of the new systems that has been introduced in past 2-3 years !!

As all decisions on the field, it is a resource that should be left in the hands of the umpires on the field. The players should have no call on it.

I don't see why it's unfair to the umpires. It would have been also humiliating and gutwrenching for an umpire to find out after a match that they made a mistake which affected the result of a match, for example not giving a player out (when he should have) on a low score when he went on to play a matchwinning innings.

At least, with the review system, if they do make such a mistake it is corrected before any damage is done, it must be such a relief to them.

Edit: Krishnam, you cannot blame the technology if Harper didn't have it switched on. The technology is working as well as can be expected.

didn't doctrove and mahela misuse it against India in test series in SL. that was absolute disaster with Fab-4 being targetted with LBWs wherein benefit of doubt should have gone to batsmen and didn't happen. Though i agree that referral system is not required and that is to save the teams from being harassed by a combo of fixed men on field and in front of TV.

it should not be done because it is unfair to umpires , it actually shares the responsibility of criminals and people like bucksnor could walk off easy blaming it on IIIrd umpire and IIIrd umpire could walk off blaming it on field umpires.

Faulty technology is portraying the umpires in a bad light.
In Smith's case, it was Harper's fault not to have switched on the volume. May be he might have had some soft corner for the SA captain............
Khemer's case is another mute point.
Let them perfect the technology, put it to trials in domestic tournaments and then introduce it. Now ICC appears to be rushing it, probably for reasons other cricket, I suppose.

The concept is not unfair to umpires and if used correctly is a valuable tool they can use. People are mistaken thinking its a players tool when it is infact it belongs the umpires. The main thing that needs to be done is that players, umpires and officials are all on the same page for the operating procedure.
