Facebook for business

Hey folks,
I just wanted to share a "win" I've had recently, and encourage others to consider the possibilities.

I've had a personal facebook page for a little over a year now, and about 3 months ago I made a page for my massage business. I asked members of my BNI group to become fans, and I put a notice up in my treatment room to alert my clients. I don't friend clients, but they can become fans of my business.

Each month I post a "Special" for existing clients. I re-send the notice once a week. Occasionally I will post an "update," but I am cautious not to overdo it like some pages I have become a fan of (it can be very spammy).

In the last few days I have actually scheduled appointments over Facebook, and received addition inquiries from clients.

It costs nothing but time and a little creativity, and it is earning me money! Try it if you haven't already....it's a great tool!

Is yours a stand-alone page for your business or linked to your personal page?

R&R I'm not sure how to answer your question. The business page is set up so clients cannot see my personal page unless I friend them, and I don't friend my clients. It's my goal to keep my professional presence and my personal presence separate. I can be a bit silly with my friends and prefer to maintain a professional demeanor with my clients.

I think the short answer is stand-alone.

Facebook is for real

I've begun experimenting with Facebook as well from a business standpoint, and it does appear to work. I have a brother who's actually interviewing for a new ad agency that only specializes in social media, so this new phenomenon appears to be for real. Just think, it'll never be as "un-cluttered" as it is now...

It really doesn't make sense that you can only friend your clients through your personal site. I really don't want my clients having that access although if I find them on the site I wish I could say "Hi, become my fan", and separate that from my "friends". Hmmm... hopefully that is in the works.

Nice, MassagePro237... I have a friend who does what your brother's doing, on a consulting basis though. He still hasn't gotten me to understand Twitter though ;-)

the facebook pages are actually why i finally ended up on facebook, but at the time i couldn't figure it out so my page has been neglected from the get-go pretty much. i'll have to lookey-loo at it again after i sort out from this weekend and get my household back on track. thanks for the reminder and kudos on the expansion of clientele!

Facebook has a classified section called the Marketplace. You can place an ad and then request your friends to promote you, when they do this, it shows your ad to all of their friends. I just put up an ad the other day, havent gotten anything from it yet. Not many people know about it yet, but I am sure it will become popular soon.
