A court in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, has convicted a 54-year-old father for taking his 8-year-old daughter along on his visits to brothels posing as “erotic massage” parlors, while also using her phone to receive videos, photographs and messages of a sexually explicit nature.
The 54-year-old was brought to trial following accusations made by the brother of his deceased wife, who reported his concerns about the man’s activities and their impact on his niece’s wellbeing to the police.
The guilty verdict was also based on the testimony of the 8-year-old girl – given to the police in a formal deposition under the guidance of a trained psychologist – in which she described several visits to such “massage parlors” in detail.
Dozens of inappropriate images and messages were reportedly also found on the child’s telephone.
According to an Athens-Macedonia News Agency (AMNA) report on Thursday, the 54-year-old, who identified himself as a doctor, denied all charges, insisting that the accusations were false.
“I never visited erotic massage parlors, either alone or with my daughter,” he said, claiming that the allegations were part of a conspiracy orchestrated by the uncle. He also challenged the validity of his daughter’s testimony, arguing that she had been influenced and manipulated.
The court sentenced the man to 18 months in prison, with a three-year suspension. It was not clear whether the 8-year-old child will be left in his custody.
