Toronto massage parlours - meaning body rub and holistic massage (not RMTs), that have been caught open right now have been getting the following fines by the police and licensing enforcement officers:
Owner/business: $20,000.
Staff/massage attendants: $8,000 each.
Customers: $5,000 each.
Likely other regions like Peel, York and Durham are facing the same or similar.

Um you've had a pretty interesting 3 posts. The fine for operating against regulations is $880. And no they have not fined a single customer of a hair salon, restaurant or barbershop for that matter.

The regulations are a responsibilty of the business and not on the customer who may not always even know the ever changing rules. Stop spreading fake news and rumors

Yes the "can" issue fines "up to" x amount. That's like saying if you stole candy from a store, the Crown can throw the hammer and prosecute by indictable offence and you could be jailed for up to two years.

It is possible but highly improbable. Very similar to this scenario...

I didn't say they were. However, the article doesn't itemize all of the tickets issued, and is from early April in any event.

For the record, absolutely not agreeing with the OP, simply posting what the rules actually are and how they've been enforced in some cases.

Not fake news at all. $880 is the minimum fine of $750 plus $130 victim fee. Businesses are charged much more because there is an expectation of profit. Also they are under orders not to be open which is a lot different than an order regarding social distancing.

Here's the government quote:
"Fines for violating a provincial order under the Emergency Measures Act can range from $750 to $100,000, including up to one year in jail."

I know a spa that was fined. I am not going to discuss the details for obvious privacy and confidentiality reasons. You are free to believe whatever you want and do whatever you want.

Believe you me, if a spa and patrons were fined like your BS spews, it would have been all over the news. Have no problem mentioning little parties that yield a dozen people $880 fines in a park, but lets keep a MP/Brothel quiet and out of the news - bullshit

You can have all the informations about what is going on and how much fines they are getting on weChat spa group info where they communicate each other and share infos every day. So far as I know there were a few ladies who got fined $845 each 2-3 weeks ago. it is best not to post anything if you have nothing to back up.

In addition, I don't question some spas just like many other businesses were fined. In every instance I was aware it was the minimum of $800 bucks or so you stated. In absolutely no instances were staff or customers of any business fined. Hence my point about your ridiculous misleading initial post.

What's more stupid about what you write is body rubs and hollistics get fined similar amounts for different violations all the time prior to covid. It may be important to note that all licensing violations carry a "up to $100,000" fine too and they all carry on.

So yes what you are posting is totally out of context.

PS. It was not my good friend's spa but one of her friends spa that was fined. I also know the other spa that was fined. My good friend showed me a WeChat post about her friend that was fined.

All the fines are $880 that they've actually written. It's standard for all businesses. They don't charge a special spa fine rate. Common sense would dictate that isn't fair

I personally only know of this one situation. If I hear of any other news from the situation or from any other situation, I MIGHT post it. I say might because it seems that posting such information makes me a target of trolls and doubters (to be polite) and I am considering not posting any more information again. I don't know if it's worth warning others of the possible consequences and other such news that I am frequently privied to. My friend showed me the WeChat post but it's it Chinese which I cannot read so I can confirm that the amounts were listed and my friend translated what it said. I know she would not lie to me nor do I have any reason to believe that the post is a lie. These people have been communicating on WeChat regarding their business for many years. Just remember, social distancing and opening a business against a government order are two different things and two different types of fines. Once you say the customer was fined $5000 I know this is a lie. And yea im starting to agree with the other poster you probably had your husband get caught at a massage parlour.

The municipality enforces the public health order where they can fine generally up to 100k. It's not any different than any other bylaw infraction such as opening past hours or if the attendant was nude where they can fine up to 100k.

Just like your stupid 500k post. It's misleading and totally out of context. He wasn't actually fined at all. He was given the opportunity to just shut down or face the fine. Anyone with half a brain can see your a troll with your own agenda in posting vague and misleading things way out of context. So yea get the fuck outta here lol
