Hand Reflexology

has anyone been on a separate course to learn hand reflexology? I was taught it as part of my ITEC reflexology albeit a short lesson, and have over the years devised my own routine.

I havent got very much in the line of handouts and diagrams etc, also about positioning.

I've got a couple of books about it but would love to compare notes and share ideas about this.

Hi Maychang. Do you have the book Hand Reflexology by Michael and Louise Keet, its quite good with detailed pictures for different conditions. Its retail price is £5.99 i got my copy from Amazon. Can't really help your further, as I do more Thai Hand Massage then hand reflexology as its easier on my hands bec of my own health condition. I got the book on h.r for info to see if i wanted to do a course on it some time...as i like to read up on things before considering any courses.

Hi Maychang,

I'm currently studying with Louise Keet and she does do 1 day hand reflexology classes for people which goes towards your yearly CPD points.

You might like to take a look at Lynn Booth's Vertical Reflexology Therapy (VRT). She does a superb hand and nail course. I have been a full time Classical Reflexologist for 4 years now, and I was getting very good results from My treatments, but after doing two VRT day courses, I was amazed at the skills and results it has given me. VRT uses hands, feet and nails and works on weight-bearing reflexes. I use it or elements of it in most of my treatments and very often the clients response has been almost immediate with cricked necks and shoulder discomfort responding particularly quickly, often disappearing by the end of a session.

If you enjoy working in a palliative care environment, VRT is particularly useful as you can work feet and hands without getting your client out of a wheelchair or armchair.

I'm looking at doing more courses with Lynn this year as I am just so bowled over by it's effectiveness and the flexibility and confidence it has given me to treat in any situation.
