A Queens woman was arrested and a Haverstraw spa is now shuttered after police discovered an undercover prostitution operation inside.
Lan Xu, 55, of Queens, was arrested Thursday after she solicited an undercover investigator for sexual acts and performed a massage without a professional massage therapy license at Oceart Spa on Route 9W in Haverstraw, police said.
Haverstraw Police Chief John Gould said allegations of prostitution and unlicensed massages at the spa were reported to the police department, resulting in an investigation with the Rockland County District Attorney's Narcotics Task Force.
Xu was charged with unauthorized practice of a profession, a felony, and prostitution, a misdemeanor. She was released on an appearance ticket by the Village of Haverstraw Justice Court.
Gould said the Village of Haverstraw Building Department will remove the business's certificate of occupancy, which will close the business.
