He accidentally introduced me as his "friend."?

We've been dating for 2 1/2 months but just really started to bond a month ago. He's introduced me to about 9 of his close friends (on different occasions) and when he introduced me by name, they all knew that we were dating. I took that as a good sign. But the other day, he introduced me to an elderly neighbor as his "friend,..."

I explained to him (later in the car) that it would usually be a deal breaker because, to call someone you have gone on over 20 dates with and sleep with a "friend" is degrading. He said he didn't realize that he did that and apologized profusely. He did a great job at being attentive and comforting me---I made sure not to make a huge dramatic deal about it. Should I read into it or should I assume it really was just an accident?


Note: We are early 30s. Although we are exclusively dating and monogamous, we are not yet labeled bf/gf----he had a bad break up (his choice) just before we met and wants to take things slow. Although he has introduced me to his core group of close friends, I have not met his other circles of close friends, and we are not FB friends---which, I hear just creates drama anyways. Uhm, I am a little hypocritical as I've not intro'd him to any of my friends. But I will...
