We brought home a kitten today, knowing that things may be a little tricky at first. Our cat is around 9 years old & is quite grumpy (she was a rescue cat & suffered from cat flu as a kitten - she's a lot smaller than other cats her age, which has made her quite nasty at times) She's a tortoiseshell cat.
The kitten we've brought back is a tortoiseshell-&-white & seems to be quite spooked, just by everything in general. She's not been checked yet by a vet but she'll see one soon. She shakes almost constantly.
She's not eaten anything, or drank much. So far, she's played a little & gone for a sleep on everyone's lap, so I'm guessing she's okay.
How can we get the two to get along, though? They've already met... in a sense... while the kitten was sleeping, the cat came up for a sniff & ended up hissing at her when the kitten started "talking" in her sleep...
Does anyone have any tips on how to get the two to get along? Or maybe even any ideas to help the cat & her shivering?
