How do I introduce a rat to my female rat? Her pal just passed away and

she needs a new friend.? My baby missy is all alone now. I'm guessing she's between a year or a year and a half, but she's in great conditiong, very active and nice and plump I am very sad because my other baby Squeaks just died about an hour ago. She was a doll <3 I want any advice any of you have on introducing a new rat to the cage, how old it should be, what do I do if they start to fight, will they fight, etc. Thanks so much.

You can absolutely introduce her to a new rat. Just make sure it's a female and preferably a large rat, just to make sure they are the closest they can be in age. I myself was just faced with this problem and it worked out just fine! Generally, female rats do not fight, but just to make sure, be sure to clean the bedding before putting the new rat in. Putting a new rat in your old rat's bedding will make it harder for the new rat to adjust. I hope everything works out for you!

Put them in seperate cages, but right next to each other, so they can get used to each other before they actually come into contact.
