How do newbie Wiccans and quasi Wiccans who think the Rede is two words,

not eight, pick which two words? Maybe if people are going to be contrarians about Wicca they should've picked "it harm" instead of harm none. Then they could say we going around harming things all the time, which makes about as much sense as claiming we never do harm...

Seriously speaking, I *am* bidialectical, so is "an it harm none, do as you will" really hard to interpret in American English and I don't get it or is it that some author somewhere has it confused with Jainism?

I fail to see how anything but a troll could consider equivocating a rule (p->q) with its logical inverse (~p->~q) as trivial. Indeed, the Christian equivalent would be saying that since their god says "thou shalt not murder" their god means "it's okay to do everything as long as it's not murder."
I don't know, as I implied, I think claiming something says the opposite of what the words means is on that whole Creationist level of dirty tricks.... It's just....so...grotty.

I have to say that the article certainly does nit pick to an extent that drives me nuts. If the Rede isn't necessarily something to strive by, then why is he picking it apart so much?

This is the first time I have heard of AC Rede and MR Rede. Interesting but pointless imho.

Perhaps that is the problem, he is clinging to his religious background! If he was of the Creationist background that is.

I wonder if Scott Cunningham is the culprit. In "Living Wicca" he states in his list of example sets of laws: "Harm none. This, the oldest law, is not open to interpretation or change." He does not, however, call it the Wiccan Rede.
