How do you introduce a new rat to my rat I have now?

Ok so tomorrow i might get a new rat but i dont know how to introduce him to my male i have now.... please help

put them together in the bathtub or bathroom (usually a place neither rat has been) and let them sniff each other and have a play. your first rat may chase your new rat and try to flip him over, dont worry this is normal and if it gets out of hand serperate them until the next day. people say you cant introduce male rats to each other, but i introduced 4 baby male rats to my 2 older male rats with no problems

You might want to have a back up cage just in case. I just got two new baby females to be friends for my other two rats whom are 8 months old and almost adult size. I currently have the babies in my other rats old, smaller cage and the cages are next to each other.
If you have to cages and they don't get along right away, keep the cages close so smells become familiar, but NOT too close where they could hurt each other.
Have the too rats meet on safe terms, like a room where the other rat doesn't usually play in and his smell isn't all about. Dab a little perfume on each rat so that their smell is the same.
If they start fighting, separate IMMEDIATELY. You may scar your baby for life or temporarily if the older one is beating him up real bad and he's just a little ratlette.
Never give up hope if they aren't getting along in a week or even a month. It takes time to build friendships and the new rattie has to be big enough to defend himself if it's needed.
Good idea for getting another rat! They do MUCH better in pairs and live longer
