How do YOU muster the courage to ask someone out or even introduce yourself?

I just watched a cute girl picking out research manuals in our university library walk away. I was going to go say "hi," but I thought it'd be too random.

Also, I stood up, looked at her, had a mild panic attack, fell into my chair, and rolled onto the floor. I think I may have farted, too.

I have since relocated to a remote corner of the library on the top floor...
I'm far too "less-than-attractive" to have anyone come up to me first =P

I have to win people over with my dull wits and painfully awkward charm!

What's worse, getting a reaction (even an annoyed one) or getting nothing at all? Dude, first thing you have to is not think you're "less-than-attractive" and look in the mirror and say "I'm a ****ing sexy monster!" If you don't think you're good-looking, girl's won't either. Realize that she's just a girl, not a God...or Michael Jackson (too soon?). What's the worst thing that could happen if you talk to her? She's not gonna rip your head off and eat it--unless she's Megan Fox. Talking will always get you somewhere. Also (they'll NEVER admit it but), girls get turned on when you act slightly like a prick, and that'll keep them from pushing you around. Just don't overdo it or it'll get ugly. Just show that she can't take ADVANTAGE of you no matter how gorgeous she is--and she must've been preeetty stunning to make you get a panic attack, fall on the floor and all that. Good luck.

It's just what you have to do! It's like breathing and eating. Simple survival. (There's something about the library stacks that makes them extremely poor places to interact. It can go so terribly wrong! You can come off like a nerd or a rapist all too easily. Don't they explain these things in Freshman Orientation?)
