We have a five-year-old female dwarf lop rabbit, and have just added a four-month-old shorthair kitten to our household. The rabbit roams around the house for the most part, but has her own room where we put her at night (seperated from the rest of the house by tall ornate grating that's attached to the walls), and is fairly shy and non-aggressive.
We just brought the kitten home today, and have started introducing the two of them by me holding the kitten in my arms, and my mom holding the rabbit, and letting the two of them sniff each other. We've also let the kitten roam around the house and left things from the rabbit's room around for him to sniff, so he'll get used to her scent. The only problem is, whenever he sees her in her room, he starts looking like he wants to pounce, and sort of stalks back and forth a little bit. The first time we held the two of them, though, he seemed very content and was purring, and she didn't seem concerned by him, but eventually squirmed out of my mom's arms and ran to the other side of the room and started thumping.
We've introduced rabbits and rabbits before, but this is our first cat-- we're prepared to be really patient with them, though, and have decided to leave the rabbit in her room for another week or so, and let them see each other when we're holding them again a couple times a day.
Any advice?
