There are definitely different levels of "hooked".

Either prescription or illegal drugs? Just found out my friend of 20 years has been hooked on pain killers for the last 6 years.

He will enter a drug treatment program in the morning that could last 30-60 days depending on his progress.

Personally, I'm hooked on crack. Everywhere I go I'm looking for crack. My favourite spot to score crack is at the beach....

Practically everybody is hooked on some kind of drug(s).

Hell, it's allergy season now! Imagine the stuff that's being consumed.
I wouldn't be surprised if (say allergy pills) some of these drugs are derived from dangerous substances.
It may not kill you now, but it will affect your long term health.

Well, you do know the prime incredient in most allergy/cold meds is the main ingredient in the making of meth right?

Back to the op for a second: I've been on morphine 3 times in my life and not long enough to get addicted but having given up pot, alcohol, and other substances, I can say this without ANY reservations: a morphine high is THE best high I've ever had and can totally understand how people can get addicted to it. When I had knee surgery my doc asked if I wanted some in pill form and I declined. I said "that stuff is TOO good, I might be inclined to save it for recreational use" lol....
