I know there is a ton of info out there on introducing a new kitten to older dogs, but it all seems to focus on the dogs being too aggressive or not liking the cat, etc. I have the opposite problem. My dogs (three small breed dogs) are very loving and gentle towards her but she hisses like crazy and swats at them. It's hilarious and super cute because they just back away and look at me like "What did I do?? Why's she hittin' me?"
As cute as it is though I would like to have them get along if at all possible. She's very friendly with people and purrs so loud it almost sounds like a growl! lol To start off I basically did what a lot of the websites say and had the smell exchange first. I took her blanket and let the dogs smell it and the dogs blankets and let her smell them. i actually did this one dog at a time so she wouldn't be confused or overwhelmed. With my first pup after she had the blanket for a few mins. I let him in and slowly let them sniff each other while petting them both and praising them. After her attack I took the pup out and a few hrs latyer tried with pup #2. Same reaction. And same reaction to pup #3.
So is there anything else I could try to see if they can become friends instead of enemies?
My kitten is only 8weeks old. She is definitely not declawed.
The dogs dontdo anything at all to her other than sniff. My one actually lies down on the floor and lets her come up and attack. lol I guess I just wanted to make sure that I'm not doing anything wrong to make them always have this type of reaction
