How to advertise rental space

I'm in the process of expanding my practice into an integrative therapy center. I want to rent space to other therapists. Any ideas on the best way to advertise for space available?

I was thinking about holding an open house and sending invitations to local therapists or maybe sending letters letting them know that there was space available.

I live in Frederick, MD. What's the best way to find out a reasonable rent allowance to charge?

Those are both good ideas. You can also put signs up in the health food stores as well as at nearby massage schools (including those in Baltimore and DC, since people from Frederick might be students or alumni). Also, tell everyone you know that you have treatment rooms available. Word of mouth spreads quickly and is very effective.

Regarding finding out what's a reasonable rent to charge, the best thing to do is to ask around locally and see what others are charging (or paying). Don't be afraid to call another holistic center and tell them your plans and ask for their advice. If all of their treatment rooms are rented, they can refer new calls to you. I live in a small town with a population of 30,000. The average rate for hourly massage is $60, and average treatment room rental is between $250-$500, depending on the size of the room. I know Frederick's a larger town and its proximity to the cities might make everything, including room rental rates higher.

IS there a massage school nearby? Our school always had a bulletin board with openings for rooms/rentals, jobs.

I think a massage school is a good place to start, but if you are looking for someone who might have some experience that may not be best. If the school has an alumni newsletter or something, that would be good too.

I think that talking with as many people as possible and letting them know is good too. My acupuncturist had a room available. She just mentioned it to me in conversation. I passed the info along to some people I knew were looking for space. You just never know who knows who, so tell everyone you can think of that you have the space available. That idea is a little less methodical though. Sending to area therapists probably has a better shot.
