How to Introduce a Dog to a Cat?

I have a cool mixed dog she is half Jack Russel and other half Chihuahua shes always friendly with people and other dogs.But i don`t know what it is with her and cats theres lots of stray cats around my area (my dog barks and chases them) and i saw a litter of them with they're mom yesterday about 4 kittens and i really want one after they grow up to adult size. But i don`t know how to introduce them together. I know that like dogs meeting other dogs if they don`t like each other at first they sniff buts get to know each other better and settle their differences. My dog however is a nut with cats although i just think shes excited because she wags her tail at the same time she barks at them angrily. can anybody help me? oh and im also thinking of adopting at my pound so i`ll pick any of those two options.

My concern would be your dog's mix - two breeds that are very high strung. Getting a cat might not be a great idea. Could be dangerous for the cat and stressful and heart breaking for you.

Wagging a tail doesn't always mean a dog is happy. It just means excited. This can mean happy excited, angry excited, nervous excited... you get it. If you get a kitten or a cat, introduce it to your dog with your dog on the leash, correcting any negative behavior and keep them apart when unsupervised until your dog proves to you she isn't going to eat the kitten. This will probably take a lot of time and patience. Jack Russel's are very high strung dogs who have a strong chase drive.
