how to introduce a new horse?

I have a large warmblood mare,a small pony and a anglo-arab gelding who was cut a bit late. I just bought a new 14h pony gelding and I was wondering what you thought the best way was to introduce them and get them in the same field with little damage to anyone. I know horses run around and they have to establish who is in charge,have been around horses for 29 years just wanted some suggestions thank you
yeah I did that , I lead him through the barn and let everybody sniff him and now he is in the field next to them.like I said wanted to make sure was doing it right and get suggestions thank you

Best to let horses get acquainted from a distance first, but no matter how long he is segregated, once he's put in the pasture it will be a whole different ball game. I would just put him in a pen near for a few days and maybe release him with each horse individually in the pasture for a bit. If your worried about leg injuries you could always put leg wraps on them for a little while and then once your satisfied that they are calming down, remove the wraps before you go. There is no way to know how long they will fight over hierarchy and no way to prevent it. Maybe you'll get lucky and he'll be a submissive type and everything will simmer down quickly

Introduce them slowly, by letting them sniff over the fence, then maybe put him in a pen by them so they get aquanted without a vet bill

Start by introducing the horses. Put on halters and lead ropes and let them say hello. Then, after you do that a few times, let them out into the field under your supervision. Once you think that they are fine together alone, then you don't have to watch anymore.
