How to introduce my dog to new puppy?

We're getting a male Dalmatian pup soon and I already have a 5 year old Border Collie. Can someone suggest a good way of introducing them? She is neutered and is jealous, but only in the way that she'll get her nose under your hand to get stroked xD she never nipped my old dog out of jealousy. Thanks

Hi, i work at a shelter and we introduce dogs to each other every day, i will explain how we do it at work, which works really well.
Meet in a park or somewhere quiet and unfamiliar. Have both dogs on leads. stand about 10 -20 metres away form each other, and slowly start walking in a large circle clockwise, and have the other dog going anticlockwise. Keep walking in circles, so the dogs have a chance to see and smell each other at a distance.
When they do pass closely to each other make sure you are NOT holding them tight, if they want to get up close and have a sniff, let them. If you hold tight, they will strain at the lead and it makes their body appear bigger and more confrontational to the other dog.
keep casually walking and let them have a good sniff of each other.
Watch the body language, and if there is growling or barking, or you dont like the look of it, then leave and try the next day.
If they seem to be getting along ok, you could let them off in a fenced dog park?
If they get along and are going to bring one to your house have both dogs on lead, and have them meet down the street from your house. Do the same introduction as described above, have them go for a walk together then bring them in the door together.

you can try putting each of them on a leash. have someone hold one dogs leash and you hold the other. let them gradually get closer until they can sniff eachother if one tries to bite or anything, pull them back and tell them no. continue this until they can be used to eachother. once they are off the leashes watch them to make sure there is no fighting or anything.

As your new puppy will presumably not have had his vaccinations, meeting off your property (parks, etc.) will not be an option. Therefore I'd go along with the baby-gate idea. We picked our new puppy up with our old boy along too. We had a small crate in the back of the car for the puppy, right behind the front seats, to one side, so my husband could sit alongside in one of the split back seats. Our old boy was right in the back, but could sniff the new person. We had another crate in the house and after the pup had been allowed to pee etc. outside in the garden, we brought her in and had her in her crate while things settled down. Then she was allowed out of her crate (outside again) and brought back in to meet our old boy face to face.

She wasn't left with our older boy unless we were immediately watching what was going on.

Adults won't normally attack puppies, but they will feel threatened so it's up to you to have a place for both where each can feel comfortable - and your older dog needs to know she can take a nap without being mugged. Split your attention between them and it will be fine. Just don't expect the bonding to be immediate, it will take time but with common sense, a bit of anticipation etc. they will be best friends in no time.

Wave the puppy in front of the dog and make growling noises.

This will show the adult dog that the puppy is dominant, and he will not mess with him.
