Im trying to introduce a new kitten to my home and i need help!!!?

I have a two year old declawed male who used to be in a home with other cats, but I think he has gotten used to being alone. I think he has been lonely always meowing and wanting to play, so I got a FIXED 5 mo old male kitten. I know it takes time to get used to each other, but Im not sure how to do it.

My older cat is hissing and growling and even swung a few times, but he doesnt have claws so all he is doing is scaring the kitten. the kitten has not growled hissed or anything back, so its a one way fight. Will my older cat get over this? right now he isnt eating or anything. just sitting on the couch watching the new kitten like a hawk. But I want to keep them together to see if this will make them get used faster. Is this the better thing to do?! Please help me!!

The best way to introduce two cats is this:

Put new cat in its room, old cat is not allowed in it. When new cat shows signs of wanting out of the room, than introduce smells. Use a towel or blanket that each cat has been sitting on and trade. When the cats react nicely to the smell, than switch rooms so that old cat is in the room, and new cat is out. Do this two or three times a day. When the cats seem comfortable with this arrangement, then do a face to face introduction. Have a friend hold the new cat in one corner, you Old cat in the other corner. Slowly move closer. Use lots of treats. When the cats start hissing, move back to the last spot where they were comfortable with. Give lots of treats. Put cats back in room. Start again tomorrow, move a few feet back from where you stopped yesterday, and try again. Your goal is to have two cats sniffing each other, with no hissing. Don't trust the cats alone for the first few days that they sniff each other.

I think introducing the kitten was a bad idea. After a while cats become very territorial and become very irritated when another cat "intrudes".
It's all about pride, and knowing another cat is in their "area" is in effect threatening.
Even if it is just a kitten.
Personally i don't think the cat will get over it, and won't like it when the other kitten comes anywhere near it. This is both unfair for the original cat and the new one as neither of them will be happy.

Cats never like kittens, or any new cat for that matter. Don't worry about the kitten, even if the cat had claws he would only bat at the kitten, not claw him.

I doubt the cats will ever be best friends, but after a while the older cat will get use to the kitten and the kitten will leave him alone. If your cat continues to not eat after a while, you might want to have have him checked by a vet and put him on meds for depression.

With a new kitten, be sure to show him the litter box often( every few hours when your home) so he knows where it is. You also should show him the food and water a couple of time over the first fews days to make sure he has everthing down.

otay gurl here we go. last month my cat had 5 kittens right? so we gave em away to good homes and kept one. well luckly my kitten tj has his brother stay a cuple of houses away. he came to stay at our house and sam the mama dont like him! she goes grrr and hisses at him! well i found out that it kida takes a whil for getting used to. try to keep them away from each other as long as u can and dont make them fight it just makes it worse. Hmm... the older male might get used to the younger one eventually, but only time will tell. Two males are more likely to fight than a male and a female, but as you already have two males you obviously need to work with that. I would put them together for only a couple of hours a day at first, and then keep the younger kitten away from the older one the rest of the time so the older one can do his own thing without being bothered by a boisterous youngster. I would also give the older cat extra love and attention to try to communicate that he is not being pushed out - always feed him first and perhaps give him extra treats or food for a while. I would gradually increase the amount of time the cats spend together and hope that this helped the older cat get used to the kitten.

I have done this many times (i have 5 cats), and they all hated each other in the beginning. the best thing to do is have supervised visits, just keep an eye on them, play with them together and give your old cat some of his own space (where the kitten cannot go...like a bedroom) or keep the kitten in a separate room, and let him out to socialize. Your other cat will sniff around where you have the kitten and get used to its smell. they will eventually get used to each other. Good Luck

rub some butter on both of their paws and little on their backs and put them in a room (try a bedroom) together. watch them for awhile and when they are finally done licking, they will:
a) be friendly with eachother and try to lick the butter off eachothers backs
or
b) be nuetral
i did this with my cats who had a similar problem it worked spectacularly ^^
