Infant Massage Instructor marketing

Hello everyone. I just wanted some advice for those who live in North Carolina (Raleigh/Cary area). I just moved here from New York City and don't know the area too well. I am considering getting my certification to teach infant massage. I am not yet a LMT (have the education but have not taken the national board exam yet) but I don't need to be one in NC to teach infant massage. I wanted to know if anyone has any advice on what the market is like in this area. Any advice would be helpful. I also welcome any advice from people in other states or people who are certified infant instructor.

Hello, I'm not from your area but I can suggest something that may help you decide. Are you near area hospitals? If so, call and ask if they offer community infant massage classes at the hospital. If they do, you know they will reach a portion of population. I work in a hospital and all of our "sister hospitals" offer Infant massage as well as couples massage at a very resonable price, several times a year. It sounds like you may be interested in working with infants, yes? It may not generate a lot of business but I encourage you to get your certification if you want to pursue this.

well the way i see it is that there are babies everywhere! unless you are in a low-income area, you can easily find new moms who would be interested in PAYING for infant massage classes. if in a low-income area you could look into helping bring touch to a community who REALLY need it at no cost or a really low cost. the above reply is a great start. also think of day care businesses, resale or baby clothing shops, baby furniture stores, kindermusic type of businesses, health clubs etc....anywhere you'll find mommies and their babies. also, don't forget that toddlers and their mommies are good for these courses too! you just have to be a little more creative in how you teach.

i wouldn't worry about having your massage license to do infant massage. when i took the infant massage course, i was the only mt. the other 25 people in class were all in social work. you truly do not need to be in the mt business to teach infant massage.
