Infertility

Has anyone out there got experience of working in the fertility field? If so, maybe you can help.

I've been treating this lady, first of all, for 6 weekly treatments, and then I like to treat twice pre ovulation, then once subsequently in the cycle.

She's had her first 2 pre ovulation treatments, and then came to me last night for her 'post ovulation' one. But surprise, surprise, for the first time IN HER LIFE, her period came one week early, and was now on day four.

She'd always had a regular 28 day cycle, it's never changed until now.

She's a professional lady and is 37.

I'd be very grateful for any thought on this.

From my experience this is quite common, in fact I would say some sort of 'disruption' is experienced by most of my clients. It could be anything from a difference in the cycle length to a difference in pmt symptoms. Just recently I have had a few relatively new ladies ( on their 5/6/7th sessions) who all experienced either early or late menstruation, making their cycles much shorter/ longer than usual for them. I've found varying symptoms to be common a few weeks into regular reflexology such light spotting between periods, a heavier/ lighter flow.

Again I've always found that things settle down after a while, I trust that the body knows exactly what it's doing, and that it's doing exactly what it needs to do. I see it as a positive sign that the body is responding to the treatment, and that it is adjusting and rebalancing itself accordingly. I simply continue to work with whatever cycle the body is on, adjusting my approach and the treatments given as necessary.

I don't believe reflexology can cause harm, so I see all change as growth in the right direction! The women that come to see me have often been trying for years, so to see and feel physical 'proof' so to speak that the reflexology is actually having an impact on the body is often very exciting for the client ( and myself!). I try and work with this excitement that 'something's happening in there!' as I believe that these positive emotions are a valuable tool. It can be common to lose faith, to lose that belief, so witnessing change in the body- however small - can reignite that all important belief.
