Anecdotally it seems as though the standard massage pricing that has stayed relatively constant for a very long time here in AB. Suddenly however I am finding that I am getting a bit of side eye now, or a nonchalant thank you upon delivery. I'm getting a feeling that massage costs will certainly rise in the near future. The $75-$80 per hour is now appearing as $90-$100 per hour in many establishments (though I will admit many have had this price point for many years). Curious what your thoughts are.

I avoid the $ 90.00 and up massages. I see some over $100.00
There are still enough ( in Calgary ) charging $ 70.00 to $ 80.00.

In Calgary, still plenty of options at the 70-80 per hour range. Some exploring promos at 65. The 90 shows up at some of the medical massage shops. And the 100 at a rare one, where the spa is very nice. There are always the gimmicks around add on fee for insurance receipts, or direct billing etc. But customers need to initiate discussions if they visit frequently. With my principal go to masseuses, I get excellent rates. But it's built on loyal repeats. Top one is nearing 50 massages for this year. Cash, no receipts (my choice).

I believe increase of rate only benefit to owner but not the girls !
Girl usually got 40% of the charge .....such change will not benefits them at all ...Their income mostly rely on tips ...
If they do provide service that you like or enjoy ...be generous ....
This is only my thought ...

In Calgary, another shop ad on Kijiji promoting Christmas Massage Discount Price till December 26. $65/hr instead of $80/hr. The year end insurance based massage rush is not there. Home based workers had plenty of time all year to use up their benefits.

Every so often this topic pops up.
In the last twenty years I can say my prices have not gone up. I have even found some awesome ladies that were $200 and generally many who are fabulous between $240 to $300

RMTs have steadily been $80 an hr with tips at my discretion.

I don't think an increase is going to do any good for the owners or Rmt's

It's funny I came across a old Stephen Chow comedy the other day called "From Beijing with Love" from the mid 90's. In it the girls from Shenyang were charging him $5 dollars a night but he's being a cheapskate and not paying them. He then gets to a seedy hotel in Hong Kong, and when he try's to hire a woman the price jumps to $150usd!!! The reality is the price depends on where you live and the local economy. And with how slow things are for some people right now a price increase is hardly needed.

This was weeks ago at GE, I was already in the room with May and I heard someone quoted $100 an hour to a walk-in. So that number is out there. I do understand the reasoning a little, I look at my own grocery bills each week and certain things have doubled during these strange times, eggs are like $4 a dozen and the price of beef, wow. I know certain things like rent, gasoline have not increased but a lot of other things like food has gone up substantially.

$100 for 1 hr seems a bit excessive for market pricing as per insurance what they are willing to pay. If a place charges $100, they might max at $90, leaving you out tips + $10

For the first time in a long time I actually looked at my insurance receipt from my legit massage place, it is $90+GST so basically $94.50; I guess it is easier for the ladies to simply say $100 an hour than $94.50. LOL, I cannot remember ever paying GST when I paid cash for a session, especially on the "tips".
