Introduced new cat-not going well?

I originally have 3 cats - 2 15-year-olds (both males) and 1 7-year-old female. We just introduced a 3-year-old female (all cats are spayed/neutered) on Wednesday evening (today is Friday morning) and so far it's not going well. The first night we kept them pretty much separated, there was a lot of hissing and growling when they did see each other, the 3 slept in the bedroom and the new one out in the living room. Yesterday, there was still a lot of hissing and growling going on and this morning too. I'm just wondering how long is this going to go on and what can I do to quicken the pace of them adjusting to her? Is it hopeless at this point? Help!

we did something similar, introduced a 2 year old female kitten, to 2 13 year old females all spayed, they lived in the same house and adjusted over time. it has taken 1 year for them and now they actually sleep together which is wierd considering how much they hated each other in the beginning, the kitten loved the old ones from the get go but the oldies hated her.

i guess it just depends on how much time they spend together. but its going to take a few months for them to get comfortable.

Ask any other member of the house to pet one cat, while you pet one of the other three when all are in the same room. Slowly make them feel that the other cat is not a real threat.

One of my cats took over a month to stop growling both times I got a new cat.
My second cat took 2 weeks to stop hissing and growling at the new one, now theyre best friends. It does take quite a while but just leave them to it, they need to get used to each other. I didnt separate mine because I wanted them to get used to how life was going to be from then on and now they all love each other

Just treat any possitive behaviour, although it may be a while before you see any! and be patient.

Cats dont like new cats. It could take a year. you should let them get to know each other one on one through a baby fence. then I would let them see each other without anything between them one cat at a time. then you can start letting them hang out together.

Important!!! Rub the cat beds with the sent of the new cat. Put a towel that the new cat has slept on (or rub the towel on her to get the sent) under the other cats food bowl. The more they get used to the new cats smell the more they will get acclimated.
