introducing kitten to my 6 month old, is this normal?

I have just got a male kitten (14 weeks) as the previous owner felt she had too many animals, however the previous home was really bad so I was informed. My kitten who's 6 months old, they have been running around after each other but clawing out.. but no hissing, biting or growling.. I assume this means they are ok... I have spoken to my vet, and I am getting my 6 month old spade next week and he assured me that nothing would happen between them as they are so young.. However can anyone put my mind at rest that the running around after each other is perfectly normal? and how do I make sure my 6 month old doesnt feel invaded..

They should be fine. A 4 1/2 month old male won't be sexually mature enough to mate. Not for another month or so.

Cats don't usually mate successfully until around 9 months. Mounting behavior and chasing around is normal. They are kittens and even adult cats do it. They will get used to each other. Ask vet about invasion, Think he will tell you the same thing.

Kittens play rough and tumble. This is natural for them. They hiss, chase each other and then, like the babies they are, suddenly stop and drop off to sleep. Had they remained with their litter mates they'd be playing the same way. It's part of their growing up.

Give them a little more time to get to know each other, and don't favor the newer kitten over the 6-month-old. Remember, too, that kittens have a lot thicker skin (literally) than we do, so it's much harder for them to hurt each other. Try getting them each a toy or 2 that they can play with by themselves for a little down time, e.g. catnip mice or other catnip toys

Glad you're a responsible cat person and are having you older kitty spayed.
