Hi!
im thinking of getting a new baby chick to raise but before i ask my parents i just wanted to ask how should i introduce the new chick? i have 7 adults and i will get the chick raise it inside then spend sometime(maybe about an hour) once it is old enough outside with the other chickens and stay and watch but my chickens (like all chickens) hav a pecking order... shadow a massive black chook is at the top standing over the others and pecking them, then it goes cleo a brown chook a bit smaller then shadow then i have the newly introduced (when i say newly i mean about half a year ago!) bantams (miniature chooks) ezmay and molly at the bottom of the pecking order, in other words the ones who get pecked, then i have 2 silkies who are quite old as they were abandoned and my pop saved them for my as a surprise... they kinda stay out of the way and do their own thing... anyways so dont start saying its wrong for me to let my chooks peck the others because i stop it if i can but im not there all the time and in any group they have a pecking order its just showing who's strongest... anyways im scared that if i introduce a new little chook if they would peck the life out of her? im scared she might get hurt... any tips?
