Is it hard to setup a dedicated server for a newbie?

I am using yahoo shared hosting right now. but i'm very Very fed up with its down time and occasional errors and its speed performance.

I am looking at the godaddy.com dedicated hosting but i hear you have to do all the work yourself.

is it tough? can a newbie do it? is there anything online that can help me?

all i really need is be able to upload php pages from filezilla, able to use mysql thru phpmyadmin and allow .htaccess.
 
no its not hard at all, there is plenty of documentation on how to do it and even if u don't get it right I can help you
