is it too late to introduce a new hamster?

i bought a male russian dwarf hamster about 6 weeks ago, he settled into his cage straight away and has become almost completely tame (never bit once). but now i want to see if i can introduce a new hamster as a companion as i'm not in alot of the time. is it too late for me t introduce another hamster into his cage (i've got a spare cage to try and introduce thm together slowly)

It's not too late, and it's great your considering buying a fried for your little guy. The key to introducing hamsters is patience, because without a doubt, they'll fight every now and then. Especially, when they first meet, because they have to determine dominence. First, when you bring your other hamster home, put both hamsters in nuetral territory. Then, let them get to know each other. They might fight, if they do, take them away from each other, and try again later. Keep doing this daily (This shouldnt take too many days.) And then finally, start putting them together in the cage you'd like them to live together in.

Nope, I would try it. If aggression starts with the hamsters, be sure to separate them as apparently it isn't going to work out.
