Is this even possible??? Google Talk "chat off record"?

Okay. I do not understand someone who wants to chat off record on google talk, and I think it was a dumb idea for google and a great idea for cheaters to get away with things. I know with "chat off record" it will not save any conversation in your chat log or online in your gmail inbox, bc one feature of google talk it will save your chats in 3 places. One of the places being gmail inbox. So here's the ISSUE. I noticed the other day a conversation was still on my spouses phone, and he told me whom he was speaking with, when I asked about what ( he's a small independent film maker, and she's an actress) anyway, he said oh just stuff, it was very generic anyway. Well considering he didn't really say WHAT later on I wanted to see. I then saw he was semi-talking about him and I and our relationship. He was commenting on how he hopes it "sticks" meaning me allowing him to do what he wants when he wants, come and go and basically ask no questions. There is a prior issue here, that he has said he messed up and is sorry, blah blah. Since I've not seen anything to weird, but I NEVER let my guard down. The last few weeks has been great! but mostly due to me, trying to change... I just want honest open communication in our relationship and he acts like a jack ***. Anyway, once the conversation was there, yesterday when he left his phone here I looked and it was GONE plus it said "chat off record" when I confronted him on it, and was honest I was on his phone, he got defensive and said he swears he DID NOT DELETE ANYTHING, and that "she" chats off the record all the time. That when he was sent an invite from her in the start it stated SHE chats off the record. I said hm. very strange, I said bc your chat was there now it's gone, although him standing by he did not get rid of it. I also recall the other day saying I didn't know you could chat off the record, he's like oh ya, I said oh ya huh, you do it all the time? he said NO NOT AT ALL ( BS )?? now come on. Anyway so I noticed this and asked and he keeps saying he doesn't know why one minute a conversation would be there to not be there, and that he SWEARS on his kids he did not delete anything nor hiding anything. Should I believe him? I just know goggle has tight security features. What do you guys think??? FOUL/BS or is it possible he's telling the truth, if so HOW?

I am suprised i read all of that.
I am not even sure what your actual question is.

I am going to take some assumptions
1. I am going to take your upset and you want to get it off your chest
2. Relationship is rocky and you want to improve it
3. Faith issues

So, yes She can choose to Chat off record and it will be set for both people. The catch is, you can check his settings if he set it by looking at his chat settings. If his is Chat off the record he did it. But if she has set it, then His would still be set to default. Hence for every other person he talks to will still be on the record. If he said was true

The only exception would be if he choose off the record for each conversation, manually. instead of a generalized option.

Either way its a tough nut to crack. You could ask that all his chats be on the record. But that might be taking it a bit too far. .
