lotions and potions

Hi everybody, now that I've got my room and some clients I would like to start selling creams and lotions, can anybody give me any idea where to start, i've already got my base cream, jars etc, what sort of creams does everybody else make up and do you just label them or state that they are hand cream, face etc

Hi Alli ... I used to make up basic blends of lotions and potions massage oils etc for different skin types and requirements ... however because I don't like the idea that they may sit on a shelf for a while before being sold, thus reducing the shelf life and the effectiveness of the blend. I decided that it was better to advertise that I make lotions and potions on my leaflet and by word of mouth to my clients and so now I make up blends to order. I have one or two popular blends that I sell quite a bit of: muscular and joint aches and pains, and an antiseptic "spot cream" but I still only make these to order ... that way they customer is getting the best quality product I can offer at its optimum freshness and I don't have to throw away any pots of cream that have been hanging around too long on the shelf. I always label my products clearly with as much information as possible .. I had some sticky labels printed by Base Formula with my name address and contact details on then I just hand write the ingredients list ~ but I have also made up my own on the comp. and used "sticky back plastic" to stick them to the jars. One other point to consider is insurance .. I took out extra cover in order to sell essential oils to non-clients (i.e. those who I have not carried out a consulation for) ... of course the blends that I make use "safe" dilutions of EO's that would not be contraindicated. Depending on who and how you are selling you may need to get your products tested, though if you are just selling to clients then you dn't need to.

btw, you could ask clients what they would like. I have a group of testers who regularly test and sample new products for me as well as offer suggestions and reuests for new products, I get their feedback and it is very useful . You could ask clients to fill in a questionaire for you on products they would be interested in.
