[male] how to keep my initial side swept bangs look, total newbie need help!?

Let me start by saying this is my first non-basic haircut and I've never used any product in my hair til now!

I got a side-swept bangs haircut at the stylist. She gave me Bumble and Bumble "Sumotech" matte to use as product to keep the look.

This first photo is me right after the haircut:

And now a day later with my own attempt after a shower:

See the difference? What do I need to do to get that initial look back? I dry my hair with a towel should I blow-dry it, does that make things easier? Should I use the product right after I get out of the shower or wait a bit? What techniques with her fingers did my stylist use to not make my hair clump like it does now?

I'm clueless and I need help. Also if you think it looks bad let me know heh.

towel dry for ten minutes then put the product in!
my friend has a similar haircut and does that cant guarantee anything tho
