Man’s massage meetup at Saginaw hotel goes awry when gunman emerges from closet, police say - MLive.com

SAGINAW, MI — Over the weekend, a man went to a Saginaw hotel looking to pay for a massage.

He wound up handing over his money to the masseuse, but her services went unrendered when a gunman appeared.

As a result of allegedly setting up the massage-seeker, the duo is facing several criminal charges.

About 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, Saginaw police went to the Ramada by Wyndham Saginaw Hotel & Suites, 3325 Davenport Ave., after a man in his 40s called 911 to report being robbed.

The man told responding police he’d communicated with a woman online and agreed to meet her at the hotel and pay her $200 for a massage, said Detective Sgt. Jeff Doud.

The man met with the woman, 25-year-old Rachel R. Reed, and gave her the cash, Doud said.

Reed went into a bathroom to get ready, at which point 23-year-old Kyle J. Jackson emerged from a closet, pointed a gun at the man and told him to leave, according to a bond recommendation from prosecutors.

The man left the room and called 911. He had not been physically assaulted, Doud said.

Police found Jackson and Reed at the hotel and arrested them. They also recovered a firearm, Doud said.

Jackson and Reed, both of the Flint area, have been arraigned in Saginaw County District Court, with Jackson facing charges of felonious assault and felony firearm and Reed charged with larceny between $200 and $1,000.

As of Nov. 1, Jackson remains in custody on a $5,000 bond while Reed is free on a $2,500 cash-surety or 10% bond.

Jackson’s two counts are felonies, while Reed’s charge is a misdemeanor. Jackson is to appear for a preliminary examination on Nov. 19; Reed’s next court date is pending.
