The Kern County District Attorney’s Office said on August 9, 2023, Isaiah Robertson went inside a massage facility in downtown Bakersfield. While getting a massage, Robertson exposed his genitals.
The DA’s office said the victim made clear that she did not do that kind of massage and offered to give Robertson a refund and left the room. Robertson left the massage room fully nude and forcibly grabbed the victim and began dragging her back into the room.
Ignoring the victim's screams for help and pleas to stop, Robertson tried to sexually assault the victim, according to the DA’s office. Fortunately, the victim was able to fight off Robertson and escape outside the business.
Robertson put on his clothes and ran away from the scene. Through various surveillance video evidence, it was discovered that Robertson left the business and took the bus back to his home.
At the time of Robertson's conviction, DA Cynthia Zimmer stated, “The victim endured unimaginable terror while she fought to escape Robertson. Although she managed to flee successfully, it is not easy for individuals who face this kind of violence to simply move on. Robertson placed the victim in a highly vulnerable position and has proven to be an extreme threat to public safety.”
