Tao Wu
Massage employee facing sex charges
STOCKTON - A masseur was accused by police of sexually battering a client during a recent session, and authorities are examining the possibility of additional victims.
Tao Wu, 47, who also goes by the name of Peter, was arrested by Stockton police Monday on suspicion of sex crimes. He was most recently employed at Pacific Massage Therapy in the 7000 block of Pacific Avenue. Before that, Wu worked at Acupressure Massage Centers in the 6000 block of Pacific Avenue, police said.
Authorities ask anyone with information to call the investigations division at (209) 937-8323 or Detective Clarence Yates at (209) 937-8462.
Security bolstered for holiday season
STOCKTON - Additional security officers will be hired to patrol the Miracle Mile this holiday season.
The Miracle Mile Improvement District made the announcement Thursday and said the patrols would feature officers on foot, on bicycles and in cars. The effort is aimed to ensure the safety of shoppers at the 235 businesses in the area.
The improvement district is also warning customers to expect traffic delays during construction on the medians at both ends of the Miracle Mile, which will reduce traffic to one lane at some points.
Arson suspected in school vans blast
MANTECA - Four vans belonging to East Union High School were destroyed by an explosion early Thursday.
The Manteca Police Department responded to the school about 12:30 a.m. and found three vans fully engulfed in flames and a fourth on fire, police said. The fire appears to have been sparked by someone stuffing rags into the gas tanks and igniting them, said Officer Jason Hensley, a spokesman for the Manteca Police Department.
No suspect information was available. Police said a fence near the area had been cut, and it appeared the vandal had entered at that point.
The vans shuttle athletes to sporting events. The damage was estimated at about $100,000, police said.
Rash of robberies prompts dating tips
STOCKTON - Citing a recent trend of robberies targeting men soliciting prostitutes, the Stockton Police Department is offering safety tips to those arranging legitimate encounters with people they meet online.
Police suggest making the initial meeting in a well-lit and visible place, as well as telling someone where you are headed. Authorities also say to be suspicious of anyone who tries to stall for time during the meeting.
An ambush also could be upcoming if the person you are meeting does not arrive alone or looks to take you to another location, police say.
